Nikolai still hovered in the doorway. He wore full military dress, a pale blue sash across his chest. The light from the parlor glinted off his medals and gilded the edges of his golden hair. He was playing the role of the polished prince tonight. But standing there, he just looked like a lonely boy who didn’t want to return to a party by himself.

Who is going to save the Nace ship? Who is going to figure out how to break the curse? Who is going to support Nancy and encourage her not to give up; not to lose faith?
Ryan. That boy has been shipping them low key for awhile. He loves his boy Ace. He adores Nancy. He found the love of his life and he has had people do everything keep them apart. He lost her and yet death couldn’t even keep them apart. Lucy came back to him. He has never fully recovered from that loss. He isn’t going to let what happened to him and Lucy happen to Nancy and Ace. Nope not Ryan. He failed once; he won’t let that happen again.
Ok so I know a lot of people are like “wtf Ryan” after that last scene between Nancy and him. However, I don’t think he has given up on Nace. I think in that particular moment he was meeting Nancy right where she was. Nancy didn’t need someone to reassure her that love prevails, that they will figure out that curse and her and Ace can run off into the sunset and solve mysteries together. Nancy needed someone to tell her she will be ok, that this heartbreak won’t last forever, that she will come through this and that she won’t be alone on that journey. Life carries on. Parenting is putting aside your own thoughts/feelings/wants/desires and meeting your kids where they are and doing what you can to meet their needs.

I need to know what Edmund and Violet were up to for their children to become so unhinged at just a sliver of affection from their spouses.
Like with the brothers. Anthony is yelled at by Kate and then he kisses her in retaliation one time but apparently that's all it takes for him to start having horny dreams about her. Sophie gets imprinted on by Benedict just because she's a decent human and makes sure he doesn't die when he's sick. One kiss was all it took for Colin to mentally start planning a wedding and calling for duels with Penelope's imaginary lovers. Then Gregory tops them all by kidnapping his then friend Lucy at her own wedding and having nine kids.
The sisters are no better either, they're basically brining home purebred strays with daddy issues. Daphne out here putting Anthony on his first high blood pressure medication by getting frisky with his best friend and causing a duel. Eloise risking it all after she rejects six marriage proposals by randomly showing up on her pen pal's doorsteps with no chaperon and revenge plans on his two menaces to society. Now Francesca did try to do it right the first time, second marriage broke her track record though when she brought the Merry Rake into the family. Then like the youngest brother, we got the youngest sister Hyacinth trying to top her sisters by not only marrying an illegitimate lord, but also Lady Danbury's grandson.
Maybe Edmund and Violet were too affectionate in front of their kids that they don't know how to act any other way.
Either way I just know Violet sits next to Edmund's grave mixing her tea with Anthony's good whiskey going, "You won't believe what scandalous things your child did this time."
